League of Independent Voters of Texas

Dear #FIRST_NAME#Friends#:

JOIN US TOMORROW, 9 am on the conference line, or at 2 in Bastrop, or Tuesday night in Giddings!
(We have things for you to do wherever you live in Texas -- reply for details.)

Fifteen years ago, when San Antonio Water System failed an attempted water grab into the Simsboro in Lee and Milam counties, this bumper sticker became a hit -- including in San Antonio. SAWS was sent packin' and it was a win-win for rural and urban Texas. SAWS went on to lead the state in water conservation and the pristine Simsboro's "dinosaur water" was saved.

Now SAWS is back threatening to reverse all their good deeds! It is at the demand of the King Lobby in Texas -- the real estate "growth machine." The real danger lurks behind them, as some key state leaders wish to deploy a "California Water Plan" for Texas -- managed depletion. (If you haven't signed the letter to the San Antonio City Council about the Vista Ridge Project, please do right here, and please add your own comment.)

We will report to you tomorrow about some disappointments and some pleasant surprises from our visit to San Antonio last Wednesday.

Join us via conference call at 9 am tomorrow (reply for instructions) or come to one of these or invite us to your community!
